In Eijsden, a small town near Maastricht (The Netherlands), the Halfvasten Lichtstoet runs through the streets each year. Halfvasten (mid-lent) is a short upswing of the Carnival, the last convulsion of the season, halfway through Shrove Tuesday and Easter. On March 3, 2008 it was the time. Rutger and I went to Eijsden to make some night shots.
The photo
I could make this picture relatively simple. The camera was mounted on my tripod, when a harmony came into my direction. I chose a fairly slow shutter speed without too much thought really. Just before the shutter closed, the first people of the harmony went to the left, into a side street. It caused a few horizontal stripes, which break the compositon nicely. I think this picture is okay.
